Tyson Durban North Come Up Tops Tyson Properties Durban North came up trumps at Tyson Propertie's 2010 annual awards ceremony, not only emerging as the Top Office of The Year, but also bringing home four of the most prestigious awards - Ashini Harichand won the Administrator of the Year award while Monica Walker snapped up the Top Achiever of the Year and the Dream Award.
According to company founder and CEO, Chris Tyson, the professionalism, integrity and perseverance of the Tyson Properties team across KwaZulu-Natal contributed towards the company's three major achievements - its fifth anniversary, passing the R1 billion turnover mark during one of the toughest ever periods in the history of the property sector and winning the "2009 Best Real Estate Agency" at the European and African Property Awards sponsored by CNBC Arabia. The company has just been announced as a winner for a second consecutive year in the 2010 awards.
"Tyson's success is built on a unique hands-on approach and far reaching Tyson property values. Since opening in 2005, we have attracted and trained some of the province's top agents, creating a dynamic and team-oriented working environment. Each office and franchise has gone from strength to strength by surrounding itself with motivated sales personnel and highly skilled support staff.
Tyson Properties is a vibrant company that has clearly shown that marketing properties is far more than simply selling them! It's about combining first-hand sales experience, knowledge of the latest market trends, innovation and top-notch service. Because of this, Tyson Properties is a brand of choice in KwaZulu-Natal and growing by leaps and bounds across the province."
The Office of the Year embraces this on a day-to-day level and the award is based on things such as office appearance, the telephone manner at reception, dealings with head office and submission of information, support for mortgage origination company, Bondlink, advertising and placement of boards and retention of agents.
For Daphne de Marigny, who owns Tyson Properties Durban North, the key qualities that contributed towards their win were teamwork, professionalism, an intimate knowledge of the Durban North market and the nature of the market itself. These have been evident since Tyson Durban North opened in February 2007. First year sales increased by 68 percent off a very low base, followed by a 75 percent improvement during their second year and a further 77 percent hike in year three. De Marigny said the Durban North market had remained solid during the recent recession primarily because of the growing trend for Durbanites to follow the city's development northwards.
Star performer Monica Walker is one of the kingpins in the Durban North team. De Marigny said she was the perfect choice to win both the Top Achiever of the Year and Dream Awards. The latter is presented to the person who stands out as an exceptional team player and both reflects and truly lives the Tyson brand. The Top Achiever of the Year goes to the agent with the highest sales turnover. Ashini Harichand, winner of the Administrator of the Year award, is another ultra important cog in the Durban North wheel.
As Tyson explained, "In all organisations, the contributions of people behind the scenes who quietly get on with things are often unnoticed. We're recognising someone who is passionate, energetic and uncomplaining, one of our many unsung heroes who keep offices going while agents are out with clients." Tyson also acknowledged other award winners for their contributions, including Craig Rimmer (Most Units Sold), Issy Vawda (Top Commercial Rental), Alice Joy Uys (Top rental agent) Rosh Narsingh (Rookie of Year) and Nikki Muslim (Top Commercial Sales). The most improved office was uShaka owned by Cecily and Marc Deetlifs while the office with the highest sales turnover remains Morningside.
