CEOs Message May 2018
Category CEO's Message
We have just celebrated our 13th annual awards.
Looking back over the year, I realised that there were a number of silver linings. It was not only a good year when it came to growing our footprint. We added almost 100 agents and opened eight new offices over the past 12 months, bringing the total number of offices nationally to 29. We built a good platform for a great 2018/19.
When it came to regional growth, KwaZulu-Natal still managed to write the same amount of sales as it did the previous year despite the very difficult market. The Western Cape managed to increase sales by 30% and add another three offices to the region which now has five.
In Gauteng, an area where the market has remained the most challenging, we saw the highest growth of all at 53%. They also increased to three offices.
Nationally, we achieved a total of R2.7 billion and a 17% year on year increase in sales.
Last year was also the year of change and new partnerships. We started our shift from a majority branch owned company to a franchised based company, which will be completed by 2020.
You are probably wondering why I am telling you, as one of our clients, all of this. Why should you be interested in the very many awards we give out to our agents? Well, a healthy company is able to provide you with the very best service and good agents, who are recognised for their professionalism and achievements, will be the ones that streamline your buying or selling experience.
That is why I encourage all of you to take note of the awards that you will find proudly displayed on walls when you next visit one of our offices.
Although I do not have the space to list every one of the 189 awards that we gave out on the night, I would like to highlight a few important ones.
Tyson’s Top Achiever Award went to Michael Bester from the Atlantic Seaboard in the Western Cape. He also took home the Dream Award which is particularly special to us. It is presented to a person who stands out as being exceptional, someone who most reflects what Tyson Properties stands for. Michael Bester is all of this – someone that both our agents and our clients can rely on and go to in a time of need, someone they can trust, a true brand ambassador.
The Chappy Brain Pinnacle Award – which is named after my mother who not only supported her family through real estate but instilled in me the very thing that the Tyson brand stands for – strong ethics, a caring approach, hard work, support for clients and colleagues, a focussed approach, always doing the right thing and being the best that you can be – is another award that indicates the depth of professionalism that you can expect from Tyson Properties.
We only present this award to those who have been with the company for five years and who embody these values. This year, we recognised four exceptional individuals - Lyster van der Brugge, Gail van Rensburg, Ebrahim Paruk and Colleen Eaton.
Our dedicated administrators are the backbone of our business and the Administrator of the Year Award went to Fleur Breedt from Pinetown in KZN.
Some of our other highlights:
National Rookie of the Year - Rolf Madurai, Glenwood
National Newcomer to Tyson Properties – Doreen Plint, Glenwood
Top partnership – Ryan Johnson & Filipe Espinha of City Bowl
Top Rental Agent - Turnover - Neil Abernethy, Atlantic Seaboard
Top Rental Agent – Most Units - Michelle Wilmans, Westville
As I now turn to the year ahead, I admit that I am more than just a little bit optimistic. Whilst I am confident that we will open more offices this year, that is not our main focus. This year, we will strengthen the platform we have created and deliver even better service to you, our valued buyers and sellers. This will enable us to achieve an even bigger target than the one we set for last year – and I am confident that we will not only achieve but exceed it.
regards Chris
