CEO's Message Jun 2019
Category CEO's Message
Tyson Properties is proud to announce an exciting growth plan for Gauteng and I have relocated to Johannesburg to initiate and drive the process.
Looking back to when we started out in 2005 with a single office in Durban and a strong belief that we could be better than every other real estate brand in the neighbourhood, I can honestly say that we have more than realised our dream.
Our next major goal is to firmly establish Tyson Properties as a national brand.
We began this journey in 2015, opening offices in both the Western Cape and in Gauteng.
Across KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape and Gauteng, the numbers certainly speak for themselves. Over the past three years, we have grown nationally by over 100 percent.
We have achieved a great deal in the Western Cape and, as in KwaZulu-Natal, we look forward to continued growth thanks to a well-established footprint and the hard work of a solid team.
However, we feel that Gauteng presents our greatest growth opportunity.
Despite challenging market conditions that has taken an enormous toll on the property market, we very optimistically set ourselves a turnover target of R3 billion for the 2018/2019 financial year and achieved it.
Our performances in both KZN and the Western Cape were way above expectations. Our performance in Gauteng - admittedly off a low base - was through the stratosphere. Our presence in the region not only doubled but regional sales grew by a staggering 91%.
To make sure this was sustainable, I decided that it was a good time to move to Johannesburg and use the same successful strategy that helped build our brand in KZN initially. This means being hands-on, present and driving growth from within.
I am excited to have a strong team by my side - including our Gauteng director, Jonathan Davies, who recently took home the Tyson Properties' Dream Award and the growing team that currently represent our brand in the Gauteng market.
Although we have seen a 46% increase in the number of Gauteng agents working for us (from 39 at the end of March 2018 to 57 in March this year), we aim to increase this still further. My mission is for Tyson Properties to be the employer of choice for the very best agents in Gauteng.
With all that said, I'd like to welcome you all to our year of change, to an extensive marketing drive that will establish us as a stronger national brand!
Most importantly of all, though, I plan to continue making time to be on the ground in every region where Tyson Properties has a presence.
For those in Johannesburg, I hope to connect with many of you soon.
